ALL MY FAVOURITE THINGS Having completely grossed myself out with my last journal entry, I thought I’d write about something nice instead. Something cute and fuzzy, something like... all my favourite things. It just so happens that my father sent me some old photos through the post a couple of weeks back. I've since been sorting through them and putting them together for a friend who'll be making a slideshow out of them. Amoungst the photos I picked, I pulled these three out. It didn't strike me until I started writing this, that they contain three of my very favourite things: 1) Taking a bath; 2) Teddy Bear Brown; and 3) Worshipping God through song. Ever since I can remember, my favourite place to sit has been the bath. Whether engaging in water fights with my Dad as a toddler; reading Calvin & Hobbes as a teenager; or soaking in bubbles as an adult - I've always enjoyed bath time. It's funny how child-hood pleasures stick. Same goes for my Teddy Bear. In my first year of university during my second night in halls-of-residence, I was rudely awoken by a fire-drill. Thinking it was all a dream, I ran outside wearing nothing but a pair of boxer shorts, clutching what I considered in my semi-lucidity to be the most important thing in the world... Teddy Bear Brown. It wasn't until I was outside in the freezing cold and in front of the entire campus, that I realised I wasn't dreaming after all. Nothing to be ashamed of really, and one thing I'm certainly not ashamed of is singing praises to God. I love this photo. If you look closely, you can see that I'm singing from an old "Songs of Praise" book - yep, some things definitely stick, and I'm so grateful for it. |
